Donations Will Help Volunteer Fire Departments

Five to seven tons of donated firefighting supplies and equipment came to West Virginia last week. WCHS TV reported that six Pittsburgh area fire departments – the West Homestead VFD, Homestead VFD, West Mifflin VFD, Swissvale, city of Pittsburgh and Whitehall VFD – made the donations and the items were trucked to the Malden VFD in Kanawha County. The West Homestead VFD, said the donations come in handy as equipment costs can be outrageous, with some items costing $3,000 to $4,000 and certain adapters pricing in the $1,500 range.
