Johnson and Johnson Vaccine Pause Won’t Impact State’s Ability to Deliver Shots

Following CDC recommendations administration of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine in West Virginia is being paused. Gov. Jim Justice said the Centers for Disease Control and Administration recommended that the vaccine be paused after reports of potentially dangerous blood clots. The governor also said the pause will not impact the state’s ability to continue vaccinating West Virginians with other options. The state health department hasn’t reported any of the rare blood clots in West Virginia residents who have received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. The DHHR will continue to monitor for instances going forward.
