Lincoln County Restaurant Helps Kids With Disabilities Show What They Can Do

One community in Lincoln County is working together to renovate a restaurant that will employee people with disabilities. Lincoln County High School special education teacher, Kayla Shaffer, told WCHS TV that the dream began a few years ago when her fellow teacher Casey Campbell’s students and her students started making coffee in between classes. Now the Growling Grill is a student-run eatery inside Lincoln County High School. Students with disabilities learn how to create a menu, take orders and cook the food. And they’re expanding into a new restaurant across the street from the high school called Maximum Pizzabilities. Students in wood shop club are helping with construction, and students in early childhood development classes are helping set up the sensory room.
