Several Cities and Counties Recognize Crime Victims Rights Week

This is National Crime Victims’ Rights Week and some counties are flying purple flags outside buildings to draw awareness. The Monongalia County Health Department put 50 purple flags outside their headquarters. Cities observing National Crime Victims’ Rights Week include Wheeling, Martinsburg, Bridgeport, and Elkins. The flags commemorate those who lost their lives because of drug use. According to the CDC, West Virginia is number one in overdose deaths per capita in the U.S.
