Across the nation, police departments are having problems recruiting officers and keeping departments fully staffed. WCHS TV reported that between Charleston and South Charleston, there are around 20 openings for police officers. Both city departments are trying multiple things to fill the open spots. Charleston Police Chief James “Tyke” Hunt said the low recruitment numbers are someof the smallest he has ever seen.
