St. Albans-Nitro Bridge Construction To Take Three Years

Ground was broken this week on a new Interstate 64 St. Albans-Nitro bridge. Gov. Jim Justice, U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito and Commissioner of Highways Byrd White were on hand to kickstart the project that will widen the road in the area and help ease congestion near the Donald M. Legg Memorial Bridge. The project is a combined effort of the governor’s Roads to Prosperity plan and a $20 million federal grant. Crews will be enhancing the existing bridge and building a second to help alleviate congestion. The project is expected to be fully completed by the fall of 2024.
