St. Albans School Uses Grant Funds to Build a Solar Powered Greenhouse

A local high school group working toward a sustainable future took a big step forward on Friday. St. Albans High School AP biology teacher Caitlyn Dixon and her students unveiled their sustainable greenhouse and hydroponics system on campus and said the group has been working during the past two years to design and construct the dome. Grant money helped develop a STEM program at the school that helped with solar studies and then building the structure. The students were joined by members of the St. Albans Public Works department and the carpentry program students who helped them complete construction. St. Albans was one of nine schools to receive the grant from the Toshiba America Foundation.
