The Test Assessing Secondary Completion, or TASC exam, will end later this year. Data Recognition Corporation notified the West Virginia Department of Education that it is discontinuing high school equivalency support nationally. The exam has been relied on in West Virginia by students 16 and older who have officially withdrawn from school and have chosen alternative pathways. About 1,400 students received high school equivalency diplomas that way last year. The West Virginia Department of Education ensured students and families on Wednesday they are working to find a replacement exam.
