Woman Accused of Starting a Fire is Competent to Stand Trial

A judge has found a woman accused of arson in a fire at the Family Dollar store competent and criminally responsible to stand trial. 21-year old Latasia Badger is charged with one count of arson in a blaze that occurred Feb. 8 at the store in the 700 block of Virginia Street West in Charleston. In Kanawha County Circuit Court on Monday, Circuit Judge Jennifer Bailey ruled that Badger can stand trial. The judge also denied a motion to reduce her bond. Firefighters said a woman came into the store and said she was going to start a blaze. The building was heavily damaged in the incident.
