The Teamsters Union at the Coke distribution plant in Bluefield is authorizing a strike. The worker’s contract is set to expire on July 28th. The company wants workers to pay more for health insurance and is proposing a pay increase that is twenty-percent less than what the company’s workers are making in other parts of the state. The Bluefield workers went out on strike in 2018 and got support from union Coke workers in other parts of the state. A strike in 2000 lasted for over 20 weeks.
