Fatal Shooting Victim is Identified

Charleston police say an argument over stolen tennis shoes is what sparked a deadly shooting on Charleston’s West Side on Monday. Christopher Smith of Charleston is charged with first-degree murder and malicious wounding. Amanda Burdette was killed in the shooting while Jay Jerome Henry, Jr. was taken to the hospital after being shot multiple times and remains in critical condition. Police said Smith accused the two shooting victims of stealing his wife’s Jordan shoes. Smith was captured around 5:00 a.m. in the Clendenin area after an all night search. He was arraigned and taken to the South Central Regional Jail.
