Fayette County deputies said a man who told officers he picked up stray dogs along the roadway to bring them home faces charges after 19 of the animals were found in extremely poor health and covered in fleas. Randolph A. Blevins of Fayetteville was charged with multiple counts of animal cruelty. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy responding to Deepwater Mountain Road found 19 dogs running from cage to cage through holes in the fences that were connecting the cages. The dogs were living in poor conditions and had limited access to water. The dogs were seized and taken to the Fayette County animal shelter.
