Teens Face Prison Time for the Murders of an Elkview Family

A 17-year-old girl has pleaded guilty to four counts of accessory after the fact to first-degree murder in connection with the murder of a family in Elkview.
Rebecca Lynn Walker entered the plea agreement last week in Kanawha County court, and First Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Don Morris said her case was moved to adult status, unsealing the records. She was taken into custody three days after the bodies of Daniel Long, Risa Mae Saunders, Gage Ripley, and Jameson Long were found dead in their home in December 2020.

A 16-year-old boy also was previously charged with the murders. His identify has not been officially released, but he is referred to as “G.S.” in court documents. Kanawha County Sheriff Mike Rutherford said the two teenagers did know each other. Walker will be sentenced Sept. 23 and faces 10 years in prison.
