Project managers have released the schedule for blasting this week that is taking place near the St. Albans interchange as part of the Interstate 64 project.
Today, Wednesday, Aug. 11, there will be a blast at 12:30 p.m. A blast is also scheduled for Thursday, August 12 at 12:30 p.m. and Friday, August 13th at the same time. Five to 10 minutes before each blast traffic will temporarily be paced and held on both I-64 eastbound and westbound. The West Virginia Division of Highways plans to build a new bridge beside the existing Nitro-St. Albans Bridge to carry westbound traffic, then build a new bridge on the site of the existing structure using a portion of the existing bridge piers to carry eastbound traffic.
