Kanawha County Commissioner Ben Salango announced he is running for re-election. Salango has been a commissioner since 2017 when he was appointed to a vacant seat, and was then elected in 2018. Salango ran for governor in 2020 and won the Democratic primary but lost in the general election to incumbent Jim Justice. According to campaign organizers, Salango has helped develop the Shawnee Sports Complex and provide prudent fiscal management of county government as well as initiating 12 weeks of paid family leave for county employees. Salango graduated from West Virginia University and the WVU College of Law. He founded Salango Law, PLLC.
