Huntington May Need Millions to Addresses Water Quality

Huntington Water Quality Board Executive Director Brian Bracey took city council members on a bus tour of the city’s facilities this week, so they could assess water quality needs first hand. The City of Huntington is currently in the process of a $4.5 million-dollar upgrade to fix the drainage issues at the underpasses and in the Highlawn area and also clean out pipes that haven’t been cleaned out since the 1950s but there’s more to be done. Bracey estimates that overall, they would need $100 million to make the repairs needed. Bracey says some of these facilities are thirty years past their lifetime and WCHS TV reported he’s advocating for more focus by the city of Huntington on infrastructure.
