More now on an apparent murder-suicide in Mink Shoals. Sgt. Brian Humphreys with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office said the apparent suspect, 28-year old DJ Thomas of Charleston, was found dead at the scene with a gun next to him. His wife, 24-year old Alicia Thomas of Charleston and their five year old daughter Myra Thomas were also dead inside the home on Elkdale Drive in Mink Shoals. Their one year old daughter, Lona Thomas, is recovering after surgery in Cincinnati, Ohio. A bullet was removed from her head during the surgery and she has been listed as critically stable in the hospital’s ICU. Seven 911 calls listed have been further examined and only one was related to domestic violence which occurred in February 2021. The others were related to financial crimes, harassment, neighbor disputes; and a gunshots-heard call reported by Mr. Thomas about someone else outside the home. Autopsies are pending and the investigation continues.
