Local Troops Help With Evacuations in Afghanistan

Members of the West Virginia Air and Army National Guard have been assisting in the United States’ evacuation mission in Afghanistan. A spokesperson for the National Guard said the 167th Airlift Wing, based in Martinsburg, and the 111th Engineer Brigade, which is headquartered in Putnam County, were already deployed to the Middle East and have been assisting in the evacuation efforts. The 167th Airlift Wing has been providing a cargo plane for transportation in the evacuation process.
