Federal prosecutors said a Charleston man was sentenced to prison for being a felon in possession of a gun and possessing and intending to distribute fentanyl. 35-year old Keith Morris was sentenced to 10 years in prison as part of a plea deal. Charleston police officers responded to a two-vehicle crash Jan. 23, 2020, and found 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and a loaded 9mm semi-automatic pistol in a locked safe in Morris’ car. On Aug. 7, 2020, law enforcement officers seized about 176 grams of fentanyl and a loaded 9mm handgun from inside the glovebox of Morris’ car during a traffic stop in Charleston. Prosecutors said Morris admitted that he intended to distribute the controlled substances.
