A man was critically injured Wednesday night when a tree fell on his vehicle in Charleston, and he later died. He’s been identified as John Kennedy Bailey, who was a member-at-large for the Charleston City Council. Dispatchers said the tree fell just before 9 p.m. in the 1200 block of Greenbrier Street and a juvenile in the vehicle was able to get out, but Bailey was trapped inside and first responders freed him and took him to the hospital. Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin order all flags lowered to half-staff in Bailey’s honor Thursday, and the Kanawha County Commission also sent its condolences.
