Motorcycle Driver is Arrested After Fleeing

On Tuesday evening, a Kanawha County Sheriff’s deputy got behind a motorcycle that was speeding west on MacCorkle Avenue from Slaughter’s Creek Road toward Chesapeake, and Sgt. Brian Humphreys said the deputy tried to make a traffic stop. The bike accelerated and the deputy lost sight of it. Backup was called in and another deputy saw it traveling east toward Chelyan from Chesapeake. The driver was eventually arrested after the bike crashed in Cabin Creek. Justin Connard of Marmet was arrested and a female passenger was not. Alcoholic beverage containers, individually bagged suspected drugs, and more than $3,000 cash were recovered from the crash.
