The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office has temporary space now across the street while its facility is being remodeled and an addition is being built. For the next 1 1/2 to 2 years, the sheriff’s office location will be at #9 Court Street on the main road in the middle of Winfield. A Facebook post from the sheriff’s office Friday said it will be early next week before phone service at the office is restored. The office was closed Friday for the move and to work on restoring phone and computer functions. The new office space will house all of the sheriff’s office administrative assistants, process services and the detective unit until the staff can move into the permanent facility.
