Kids at one Putnam County school have a new place to play outside. On Wednesday morning, West Teays Elementary in Hurricane held a ribbon cutting to show off their new playground equipment. WCHS TV said it now features an entire sensory area of musical instruments, and a designated area for the pre-kindergarten students. A playground committee was formed to raise money for the new playground, which was also paid for in part from a $5,000 donation from Toyota. West Teays got money from being named a blue-ribbon school. Members of the playground committee hope to raise more funds to tear out existing equipment and replace them with newer structures. They also want to add more wheelchair accessible pieces. They hope to start that next summer.
