Thousands of tons of trash and debris, tires and metal have been collected during the first two Kanawha County fall cleanups with a third one planned Saturday, Oct. 16. County officials said the cleanup will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the Elkview/Clendenin area, with the collection site at the old Herbert Hoover High School parking lot. Items that will be accepted at the cleanup include solid waste, large appliances, air conditions, up to 10 tires and televisions. Recyclables also will be accepted, including computers, all metals, car batteries and electronics. They won’t take hazardous chemicals. One more fall county cleanup remains, an event scheduled for the Cabin Creek area on Oct. 30, behind GoMart.
