Charleston Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin unveiled her plan for about $36 million in American Rescue Plan funding Wednesday evening. The mayor’s plan calls for the funding to be split into three buckets: Economic Recovery, Healthy and Safe Communities and Investing in Our City’s Future. The mayor’s office said under the plan, about $8 million would go towards Economic Recovery, $13 million would go towards Investing in Our City’s Future, and $14 million would go toward the Healthy & Safe Communities bucket. Mayor Goodwin said the funding gives Charleston the chance to tend to several projects that have needed attention for years and invest in significant long-term projects.
