A Child Dies in an Accident on I-77

A tragic accident claimed the life of a 4-year-old girl Friday night. The girl was killed in a three-vehicle crash that also injured four others on Interstate 77 south, according to West Virginia State Police. A vehicle driven by an 85-year-old woman from West Milton, Ohio, was heading north when it crossed over into southbound lanes near mile marker 83 and into oncoming traffic, striking two other vehicles. The first vehicle struck was occupied by a 25-year-old woman from Wadsworth, Ohio, while the second vehicle was occupied by three people, a 50-year-old man from East Canton, Ohio, a 54-year-old woman from Fayetteville, North Carolina, and the 4-year-old child. All five people involved in the crash were taken to a local hospital for treatment where the child later died from her injuries. The accident is still under investigation.
