Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 1000 block of Hughart Drive in Sissonville Wednesday to investigate a shooting. Sgt. Brian Humphreys said a related fire was happening at a residential trailer nearby and a man identified as Jacob Parsons was in the driveway of his residence on Hughart Drive with several gunshot wounds. He was taken by ambulance to an area hospital. Robert Layne of Sissonville was detained and admitted to intentionallly setting the fire and shooting the victim during an argument. A handgun was located on the edge of the roadway near a mailbox. Layne faces several felony charges.
