Blood Donations are Urgently Needed

The American Red Cross needs blood donations to help overcome an ongoing nationwide emergency shortage. The current blood supply is the lowest in over ten years for the Red Cross and at least 10,000 more donations are needed each week to meet patient needs. The holiday season is always a challenge since regular donors aren’t able to donate as much and the Red Cross is trying to restock before that. There are blood drives happening throughout the week, including in Putnam County at Buffalo High School Tuesday from 10 to 3, and Hurricane High School Friday from 8:30 to 2. Kanawha County blood drives this week include the Belle Community Center today from 1:30 to 7, the Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center from 10 to 3, and tomorrow from 1: 12:30 to 5:30 at the American Red Cross Central Appalachia Region, 113 Lakeview Drive in Charleston.
