The Cabell County Board of Education voted unanimously this week to continue with a mask mandate until Feb. 1, 2022. Previously, the county school system’s mandate depended on the state Department of Health and Human Resources’ color-coded map. The county had to stay in the gold or better for at least five days to go back to optional masks. Superintendent Ryan Saxe said using the map was tricky and inconsistent and they thought extending the mask mandate through the holidays was best. The board will meet again in February to reevaluate.
