Dunbar Man is Arrested After Barricading Himself Inside a Home

A man was in custody Saturday after he barricaded himself in a Dunbar home armed with a pistol. Police chief Brian Oxley said a warrant was initially issued for the man’s arrest on Friday in connection with a domestic violence incident. Oxley said the man barricaded himself in a home in the 300 block of 18th Street on Saturday when police attempted to perform a well-being check after noticing his vehicle nearby. When nobody would answer the door, officers obtained a warrant and made entry where they found the man allegedly barricaded. One other person in the home was removed and the officers were later able to make contact with the man by phone and take him into custody without incident. Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office’s SWAT unit, responded to the scene.
