The Kentucky State Capitol is getting a $100 million dollar makeover. The Herald Leader said a little more than $1.1 million was spent in 2017 to restore the Capitol’s facade. The new project will take several years and cost more than $100 million, or more if problems pop up along the way. The newspaper said the goal of the project is to make the Capitol safer, more energy efficient, and comfortable. Among the things that will be fixed — rusty water pipes, replacing old telephone and computer lines, installing new voltage units, providing temperature control throughout the building, and replacing terracotta tiles on the dome.
