Two Face Charges After an Illegal Deer Kill in Putnam County

Two people face charges after West Virginia Natural Resources Police said an 8-point buck was shot in the face and killed in Putnam County, and officers found suspected methamphetamine when they stopped the suspects’ ATV.
Police responded after receiving a complaint in the early morning hours of Oct. 23 about a deer being shot before daylight on Hawkins Road. The body of an 8-point buck that had been shot in the face with a small caliber weapon was found in the area. Police said they stopped the suspects on their ATV and saw one of the suspects trying to unload his .22 rifle. Officers said they recovered three bags with 15 grams of a white substance believed to be meth with scales.
The two suspects were charged with multiple natural resource violations, and one of the suspects was arrested for an outstanding warrant from another agency on a possession with intent to deliver charge.
