West Virginia war hero Woody Williams said he suffered multiple injuries in a fall in late October. Williams lives in Cabell County and recently turned 98. He said in a statement that he’s been in the hospital recently after suffering several broken ribs and fractures in his pelvis. Williams said none of the injuries required surgery. Williams said he has been progressing well, but expects a few months of rehabilitation. Williams is the last living Medal of Honor recipient from the Battle of Iwo Jima. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroism in that battle that occurred during World War II.
