Workers Strike at Cabell Huntington Hospital

Service and maintenance workers at Cabell Huntington Hospital voted overwhelmingly this week to walk out and strike. The nearly 1,000 workers are represented by SEIU that has been at the bargaining table with Cabell Huntington Hospital for weeks over contract negotiations. The workers are striking over things like health care coverage, wage increases and staff safety. The hospital put up temporary orange fencing around its property. Striking workers include X-Ray technicians, mammography technicians, housekeeping and laundry and maintenance. A Cabell Huntington Hospital spokesperson said the hospital will be rolling out daily updates on the impact this will have on its operations and health care in the region.
