East End Playground is Getting a Makeover

The playground on the East End of Charleston called Celebration Station is getting an upgrade. There will now be two main areas, one for Piedmont Elementary School students and one for the community. WCHS TV said the new playground includes new swings, climbing equipment, standalone play sets, sensory-sensitive equipment, accessible equipment, seating areas and more. Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin said the playground is unique because the equipment is zero entry at points, so kids of all ability levels can access it. The project is in collaboration between Kanawha County Schools, the Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation and Charleston Rotary Club. The groundbreaking is expected to happen in the spring.
