Neighbors Help Rescue a St. Albans Woman From a House Fire

An elderly woman was seriously injured in a St. Albans house fire Saturday morning. The fire was reported at a home in the 2700 block of Knox Avenue about 11:15 a.m., according to the St. Albans Fire Department. Firefighters said the woman was found just inside the home by two bystanders who were able to pull her into the yard. She was taken to a local hospital and then airlifted to a burn center with serious injuries and smoke inhalation.Three dogs in the home were killed by the blaze. Officials believe the fire started in the kitchen near an outlet behind the stove.
