Blood supply has reached historically low levels across the country, according to a report by the American Red Cross and the agency said the nationwide shortages could lead to delays in care for patients. Local blood drives have been scheduled this week at donation sites including Huntington, Beckley, South Charleston and Charleston. There are no waiting periods to donate for those with flu shots, COVID-19 vaccines, or booster shots as long as no symptoms are present. The Red Cross will be giving away long-sleeve T-shirts as an incentive to donate blood.
