The total number of patients registered for a medical cannabis card in West Virginia is now nearly 5,000. A spokesperson with the Department of Health and Human Resources said the volume of applications has gone up 150% now that dispensaries are opening. TerraLeaf Dispensaries in Huntington is still waiting on product, but it’s opening the doors to its education center. West Virginia has issued 100 licenses for dispensaries, and some worry that’s too many. WCHS TV reported West Virginia would need 40,000 patients to sustain the dispensaries that are trying to open. Products are expected to be on the shelves by the spring.
