South Charleston Road Project is Delayed

The Jefferson Road project in South Charleston has been delayed by at least one construction season. The project will expand Jefferson Road from two lanes to five lanes, creating better traffic flow. It was hoped to be completed by the end of 2022. South Charleston Mayor Frank Mullens said one reason for the snag is a disagreement over how much dirt the construction would contribute to South Charleston’s other project, Park Place Plaza. WCHS TV reported that despite the lack of construction, there is still design work happening. Construction is expected to pick up again in the spring. The state said it could be done between late 2022 and early 2023.
