Negotiations will resume later this month on a new contract for Special Metals workers. The strike has gone on for two months, and United Steel Workers Local 40 Union plans to meet with the company again December 14. The two sides met over two days this week but no deal has been finalized. About 450 members of United Steelworkers Local 40 went on strike Oct. 1 after failing to reach an agreement with management. The biggest concerns are safety issues, length of time for temporary job assignments, vacation time and health care.
