Vaccinations are Encouraged Ahead of School Resuming

The West Virginia Department of Education is working on plans to keep kids in classrooms for the rest of the school year. There are no plans to move to virtual learning at this point and instead, state educators are encouraging vaccinations for those who are eligible. Some counties are expanding testing for educators and students, and families with results available before the start of school next week. Kanawha County Schools has scheduled free COVID-19 testing opportunities in partnership with the WV DHHR and AppLabs of WV. Walk-in testing is free and optional. Testing partners will deliver rapid (antigen) tests at the events. If a rapid test is positive, participants take a PCR test. The clinic is planned from 1 to 3 pm on Sunday, January 2 at Riverside High, South Charleston High, and St. Albans High.
