More than $17 million has been awarded for broadband expansion projects in West Virginia, including in Cabell, Putnam and Kanawha counties. Gov. Jim Justice said six projects were chosen to receive $17.4 million in grant funding through the Line Extension Advancement and Development program. Among them is a Comcast project that would install about 58 miles of fiber infrastructure in parts of Cabell, Putnam, Kanawha and Morgan counties. It’s a $2.8 million project that will include network line extensions in Nitro, Lesage, Liberty, Ona and other unserved locations. The funding is part of the governor’s West Virginia Broadband Investment Plan.
