On freezing cold nights, attention is focused on those who do not have a place to sleep or stay warm. Since 1939, the Huntington City Mission has welcomed people inside to protect them from inclement weather. The doors open once the temperature dips below 40 degrees or rises above 90 degrees. WCHS TV reported the pandemic has changed how the Huntington City Mission’s cold weather shelter works. Last year, in an effort to help more people, the group opened up the shelter and added more than 20 cots. At the chapel, workers give out food and ensure everyone has a warm place to sleep.
