Mayor Sets Priorities for 2022

During the Charleston City Council meeting held on Monday night Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin gave her 2022 State of the City address outlining priorities for 2022 and beyond. The City plans to use its $36.8 million allocation of the American Rescue Plan funds to invest in the economy and communities. Mayor Goodwin’s administration plans to support programs that house the homeless, invest in new business incentives and tourism, upgrade existing pools and turf fields, and clear more dilapidated houses and structures. The complete list of priorities is posted at www.charlestonwv.gov. The City also plans to finalize new City Center at Slack Plaza to act as a central hub that’s home to food trucks, live entertainment, ice skating, and children’s programming.
