There are still smoldering tires in the large pile that caught fire on Christmas Day in Nicholas County. The investigation of West Virginia Tire Disposal may be burning for even longer. The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection is looking into whether any recent or new violations from the operator could be blamed for the fire. The company has a couple of previous issues with non-compliance that are tied up in court.
