RISE WV Offers Its Latest Progress Report

Five and a half years after the deadly flood of 2016, managers of the RISE WV program said they are in the final stages of rebuilding. On Monday, Jennifer Ferrell with the West Virginia Development Office told members of the legislative Interim Joint Committee on Flooding that 352 houses have been built. Twenty-two are still under construction. Ferrell said they should be finished before the end of the year. The final 10 are in the acquisition phase, which means they can’t be rebuilt at their current location. Ferrell said someone has to take on those properties, perhaps a county or the state before new property can be purchased. Additionally, Ferrell said RISE has rebuilt 42 bridges with another 12 left to go.
