The city of Portsmouth has its first electric car charging station. It’s located by the flood wall near City Hall and the dog park. Two cars can be charged at one time. It typically takes 12 hours to fully charge an electric car at $1 per hour, and revenue from the charging station will go back to the city. City leaders believe this is a starting point to add more charging stations across the city. Mayor Sean Dunne said the price tag for the project is $36,000. The city received a grant from American Electric Power in the amount of $20,000 to help with the cost.
