A mother and father are facing charges after deputies said they responded to a domestic disturbance in Cross Lanes and found evidence of drug use and unsafe living conditions. Jennifer Odell and Paren Odell are facing child neglect charges, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said the Odells were involved in a loud verbal altercation while one parent was holding their 18-month-old child. Investigators reported they noticed a bruise on the child’s head and were informed the injury occurred during the dispute. Deputies reported deplorable living conditions and found used diapers and rotten food scattered throughout home, along with drug paraphernalia, including an open container of Suboxone within reach of the child.
