High Schools Recognized for Helping Students Register to Vote

Capital, Ravenswood, and Ripley High School students were recognized by West Virginia Secretary of State Mac Warner for their student-led efforts to register eligible students to vote. The students were presented with the Jennings Randolph Award this week. Eighty students from the Capital’s civics and advanced placement government classes were on hand for the ceremony at the West Virginia Culture Center. The Jennings Randolph Award for Civic Engagement recognizes schools that register at least 70% of their eligible student body. Students also had the chance to meet with legislators and learn more about the legislative process.
