The man accused of fatally shooting Charleston police officer Cassie Johnson said he plans to continue moving toward a trial. Joshua Phillips told our news partners at Eyewitness News that he planned to plead not guilty, take his case to trial and to claim self-defense. Phillips is charged with first-degree murder in the December 2020 shooting death of officer Johnson, and had a pre-trial hearing Tuesday. The trial in the case is scheduled for March 28.
